Depression Counseling
When everything feels heavy, support can help you find your footing again
Depression is more than sadness. It can feel like exhaustion that sleep does not fix, losing interest in things you used to enjoy, or going through the motions while feeling far away from your own life. It is common, it is treatable, and it is not a personal failing. Sessions are held by secure telehealth for children ages 5 and up, adolescents, teens, and adults across the Acadiana region and throughout Louisiana.
Is This What You're Feeling?
Common signs of depression
If several of these have lasted for a couple of weeks or more, it is worth talking with someone.
Low mood or numbness
Feeling sad, empty, hopeless, or simply flat most days.
Loss of interest
Hobbies, friends, or activities that used to matter no longer feel worth the effort.
Energy and sleep changes
Sleeping much more or much less, feeling drained, or struggling to get through the day.
Harsh self-talk
Feeling worthless, guilty, or like a burden to the people around you.
How Counseling Helps
Small, steady steps toward feeling like yourself
Counseling gives you a consistent, judgment-free space to talk about what is weighing on you. Together we look at what may be feeding the depression, such as stress, grief, trauma, isolation, health, or substance use, and build a plan that fits your life.
Sessions may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) tools for challenging hopeless thinking, rebuilding routines and activities that bring back a sense of meaning, and strengthening your support system. When it would help, care can be coordinated with your medical provider.
- A plan built around your goals and pace
- Tools for hopeless or self-critical thinking
- Rebuilding routines, connection, and meaning
- Support when depression and substance use overlap
A Note on Safety
If you are having thoughts of suicide, you deserve support right now
Depression can sometimes bring thoughts of not wanting to be here. Those thoughts are a sign of how much pain you are carrying, not a sign that you are broken. Please call or text 988 at any time, day or night, to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. In counseling, safety is always talked about with care and respect, never judgment.
